Wicked in SF

Yesterday my friend Shelly and I headed to San Francisco to see the play Wicked. She had seen it in London and loved it, so I was excited to see the play since I've heard such great things about it. It's the story about the "good and bad" witches of Wizard of Oz and how they became who they were and how they were friends before. It was a really good show, even with the major players being the understudies for the afternoon show (I suppose the principal players have to save their voices). You would never now that these were understudies as their voices were incredible. It would have been great to see it on a bigger stage, but the Orpheum theater allowed for a close up and personal view of the play.
It has a ton of humor in it and great songs. I would definitely go see it again, maybe somewhere bigger though, like Vegas.
Afterwards we went to have dinner at the cute little french restaurant Cafe Bastille where they were offering a 3 course meal at a reduced price. It's off a little alley way by Union Square that puts you right back in Paris or Florence with twinkle lights above and rows of little restaurants offering all different cuisines. We both had the ahi tuna tartar for starters, steak for dinner and creme brulee for dessert. It was a great way to end my birthday week of celebration.
